Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful I get to go to Girl's Camp. I went every year as a youth, but I'm excited to see the spiritual growth in the very special girls of our ward. We are blessed with some very choice daughters of God in our ward and I want the very best for them. I am thankful for the opportunity I have to serve them!

Hannah's Birthday

Today my baby girl turned 7 years old (sniff sniff). It seems like yesterday I was 20 years old with no clue bringing her home and wondering what I'm supposed to do.

I still feel clueless as we enter new phases ("I can do my own hair" "I choose my own clothes" "My room doesn't have to be cleaned if the door is closed" "Going through mom's stuff is fun"....).

But in all honesty, I am the LUCKIEST parent in the world. Truly. She is such a good kid. She is thoughtful, sweet, respectful and generally obeys. She always shares with her little brother even when she doesn't want to. She even let him open her first present this morning!

She is so smart too. She loves reading and school in general. She makes and keeps friends easily and is willing to give most things that are worthwhile a try, whether she believes she'll be good at it or not.

She even eats her veggies. (Proof she is not a result of great parenting but rather just born this way because I am horrible at eating my veggies.)

She isn't getting a "party" until she turns 8, but she wanted to celebrate by having a few friends go to Mcdonalds with her for lunch today. We later took her swimming, dinner with another cousin then cake, ice-cream and playing with more cousins. Very easy to please, did I mention that? I should have. Small things make her say "This is the best day ever!" (ie:having salad with dinner, or going to the gardens...)

New Car

The company car has to be given back on Aug. 1 so I've been watching for a deal. Needless to say I found one. I like it so far, but it will be basically sit in the garage for 6 weeks while I continue to drive a car with free gas as long as I can!Toyota Highlander, seats 7, but fits my kids nicely where they can't "touch, poke or otherwise look the wrong way" at the other :)

Saturday report

I am just so happy to have warm weather, truly I am! I strongly dislike winter time here. I don't particularly care for 100 degrees either, but I'll take hot over cold. I took the kids out between errands on Saturday as a rare chance to just have fun. They love the splash pad and exploring the gardens.

Moving on up

Hannah finished 1st grade and is now moving to 2nd. She received this award today, not surprising though. She is such a helpful and sweet girl, we are so lucky to have her!

Let Summer begin!

I think the sun has finally found us (fingers crossed). Hannah has been so excited to swim, play in sprinklers, etc. So on Wednesday she begged to go swimming (it said it was like 70 outside, but with the wind it felt like 50). I convinced her that the splashpad at the children's gardens down the street would be better.

(Unknown to me at the time, she put a swimming suit on under her clothes as she was still planning on getting very wet).

They had fun, I was cold, we lasted an hour
