Today my baby girl turned 7 years old (sniff sniff). It seems like yesterday I was 20 years old with no clue bringing her home and wondering what I'm supposed to do.
I still feel clueless as we enter new phases ("I can do my own hair" "I choose my own clothes" "My room doesn't have to be cleaned if the door is closed" "Going through mom's stuff is fun"....).
But in all honesty, I am the LUCKIEST parent in the world. Truly. She is such a good kid. She is thoughtful, sweet, respectful and generally obeys. She always shares with her little brother even when she doesn't want to. She even let him open her first present this morning!
She is so smart too. She loves reading and school in general. She makes and keeps friends easily and is willing to give most things that are worthwhile a try, whether she believes she'll be good at it or not.
She even eats her veggies. (Proof she is not a result of great parenting but rather just born this way because I am horrible at eating my veggies.)
She isn't getting a "party" until she turns 8, but she wanted to celebrate by having a few friends go to Mcdonalds with her for lunch today. We later took her swimming, dinner with another cousin then cake, ice-cream and playing with more cousins. Very easy to please, did I mention that? I should have. Small things make her say "This is the best day ever!" (ie:having salad with dinner, or going to the gardens...)
