Look what I did!

So I got the bug to make some changes in the house, winter does these things to people!! I moved the kids bedrooms (switched them, a week ago, but their clothes are still in the original closets...I'll get to it eventually....maybe.) But then their decorations were all wrong, so I was left with NO choice, right?! Right. I had to add some color, give it a new look, something.

So I started with Maddax's room, I thought we'd try some beadboard, it was SUPER easy! I painted the top half of the wall navy blue and ordered a vinyl monogram of his name to put on it. However...now that I have that done, I'm thinking I will have to add beadboard and bigger baseboard to the whole room, it just doesn't look complete with the one wall. The whole "If you give a mouse a cookie" theory has come into play. But wait, there's more--I'm taking that mouse for a whole new ride. Here is the partial product of Maddax's room, once I complete it, I will re-post:
After working my rear off in Maddax's room, the big blank wall in my living room was screaming at me (it's been doing it since we moved in, but I haven't thought of anything worthwhile to do, until now.) I googled. (said like Confessions of a Shopaholic girl accused of googling her story) Then I found this awesome picture and thought, 'I can do that!'
I had Kolby run to the Depot (short for my new fave store, The Home Depot) and he brought me the goods. I measured, cut-by myself I must add- and nailed to the wall with a nailgun. (quick re-cap: I used a miter saw and nail gun, and loved every second of it.) 1 day later, this is the final product:

I like it. I'm not in love with it since the wall still needs SOMETHING. However, remember that little mouse we gave a cookie to, then gave it a miter saw? Well, after painting the molding, we gave it a paintbrush...and now I need to paint all the molding in my house white. Currently it is all monotone. Not my choice. That's the way it was when we bought it, and I thought adding the shutters would give me the contrast my eyes were looking for, and they did, just not enough. So this little mouse will be spending the next few weekends painting molding, but while I'm at it, why not just replace all the baseboards with the bigger ones while I'm at it?....and maybe I will add the crown molding to Hannah's room and paint it, and maybe I will do beadboard in their bathroom too....OH dear, this mouse needs a rest.
Ps: Our entryway has NO light, whatsoever, so I finally got the storm door, which I can ventilate come Springtime, and I can see outside...it brings me happiness, to see sunshine when it is the dead of winter! (Maybe I'm lacking some vitamin D?)
