Drama, drama, drama

What a day. I am an insurance adjuster for homeowner's insurance claims, I look at people's drama, give them a check and drive off into the sunset. {Admittedly, there is more to it than that, but you get the gist.} Well, after spending 6 hours in the car, I get a frantic call from my renter, the living room has flooded. Say What?! How, what, why?

Oh man. Being on the other end of this deal is no fun.

I head on over to take a look, my best guess is a frozen hose bib. I did remove the hose last winter, but alas, the craptastic freezing weather still got me. So, the carpet, pad, walls and baseboard are wet, and my renters hate me even more. I had to call the pro's who cut out the pad and suggested cutting out the baseboard {I asked them to hold off a day and see if it dries out....please dry out!} The plumber will have to cut a hole in the wall (to which I have NO touch up paint left), then leave me a big fat bill.

Great. What next?

Fortunately, in the meantime as I deal, the sweet neighbors were out with their kids having a swim-fest with toys, pools and such. They took Hannah for about two hours and had a blast. Man, I miss that neighborhood.

Anyway, I needed to vent, so there you go. On the bright side, no broken bones from the rollerblades yet! I'll keep trying to de-stress & look on the "bright side." :)

Looky looky!

I looked for these little babies all over today...apparently they are a thing of the past. {and they just might be}. Wish me luck, it's been more years than I care to admit since I've donned rollerblades!

a "Good Day" returns....

Yesterday I blogged about a string of bad days, but it ended up being a good one! Hannah had some friends over to make cupcakes,

Maddax made a new friend,

and I got to do laundry!

(and my car is all fixed and ready to be picked up!)

What else???

We all have "good days" and "bad days." I think I've had a few of the latter recently...This week is no exception. As you may recall, I had a bit of car accident a few weeks back. Fortunately, I got it back from the body shop in ship shape this last weekend! But then on Tuesday, it looked like this:

Nope, that's not from the car accident a few weeks ago...Kolby backed out of the garage without looking and his bumper gave my fender a little kiss.

The day before my doomed car met Kolby's bumper, we had the most comfortable sectional delivered to our house. I was SO excited, until they said there was no way to get it into the basement family room . When the delivery men left, they so lovingly left me a reminder of my heartbreak:

Finally, our washer and dryer was supposed to have been delivered at the LATEST, yesterday. Do you think I have a washer and dryer? Nope. But I have PLENTY of laundry waiting for them to arrive!! I had a nice little chat with a few managers at Lowe's, cancelled my order and went to RC Willey. They PROMISE to deliver my set today...we'll see. On the brighter side, Lowe's got my set in today and called to deliver it, but I had to tell them I cancelled the order last night .

Rain rain go away!

There was about a 4 hour break in the downpour of rain we had today. I took the "opportunity" to mow the lawn that was overdue. It was the first time I have mowed a lawn since....um....I was maybe 15 or 16?! So, about a decade! It all came back, like riding a bike. Anyway, once I mowed the lawn Hannah wanted to go out and play, so she ran around the backyard about 5 or 6 times then asked me to take her picture. You'd think the kid had never had space to run around before, which is NOT the case, but I guess my mowing made the lawn so appetizing for play ;)

So here ya' go-

We're still alive!

I feel so disconnected from the world! We moved this week and internet access has been sporadic (what did I do before internet...seriously!) We are unpacking things, throwing things away, trying to keep my head on as I run to work, to home, to the townhouse to organize things for our tenants, and back to my house of boxes!!!

Maddax is just happy to have his crib back after the short stint in the portable crib, and Hannah is overjoyed that she has a Hannah Montana pillow in her bedroom, (<---she is easy to please!) and a dedicated toy room downstairs. Here's a preview of the kitchen in the disaster of unpacking: (ugh~I know!)

And Maddax being the happy camper he is:
(Hannah was taking a nap in her new room so I didn't get a shot of her...but trust me, she's a happy camper these days too!)

Thankful Thursday

I cannot express how thankful I am today to just be alive! I had a little brush with danger yesterday, crashing my company car in the canyon, spinning out of control prior to ending up in a ditch in the side of the canyon. After the initial shock wore off, I realized how lucky, how BLESSED, I am that I didn't spin the other direction and down the canyon ravine. I realized the Lord was looking out for me, and feeling a little sore is the best case scenario. When I came home, I hugged my children a little longer, enjoyed their whining, hated putting them to bed, hated putting myself to bed, because there is so much to this life, I don't want to miss any of it! "Thankful" doesn't express my gratitude to be here today. I'm sad it took such a drastic measure for me to appreciate the life I have, every part of the life I have, but I am truly grateful to be me today.
Without being preachy, just wanted to pass along the challenge the look around you, appreciate all that makes your life yours, and be grateful for it!

Baby's 1st haircut

Maddax was starting to look like an easter chick, his hair was all fluffy, no matter what I did to it, and growing past his ears...I kept putting off a haircut because, well, I'm not sure why...BUT anyway- Here is his new haircut, all trimmed and looking like a little boy instead of a little baby (awwww.) This isn't the best picture, he was tired, but enough to get you the gist of the do-

In other family news, looks like we should be moving by the end of the month (now, to clarify-it seems that way, and we are hoping that's the case, all the people that make those decisions tell us we're good to go...but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.) <----too late.

So, here's the new place. Know anyone that wants to rent our townhome?
